Is there a fee to register interest?

No. Registering your interest is entirely free. Exam fees apply only when you formally apply for the certification examination. All exam fees are TBD and will be announced before the application period opens.

What are the eligibility requirements for the CR?

The CR (Certified Recruiter) designation requires 24+ months of documented recruiting or talent acquisition experience, a minimum of 10 verified placements, one professional reference, and a passing score of 75% on the 150-question proctored exam.

What are the eligibility requirements for the CRA?

The CRA (Certified Recruiter Associate) has no prior experience, placement, or reference requirements. It is an entry-level pathway open to anyone entering the recruiting profession. You must pass the 100-question proctored exam with a score of 72%.

When will the first exam be offered?

ABCR is currently completing its organizational and examination development work. Registered candidates will receive advance notice of exam dates. No specific date has been announced at this time.

How much does the exam cost?

Exam fees are TBD and will be published prior to the Founding Class application period. Registered candidates will receive notice when pricing is finalized.

What is the exam format?

Both exams are computer-delivered, proctored, multiple-choice assessments. The CRA exam is 100 questions over 2.5 hours (72% to pass). The CR exam is 150 questions over 3.5 hours (75% to pass). Both include scenario-based items.

Do I need to be a member to get certified?

ABCR certification is an exam-based credential, not a membership benefit. You do not need to be a member of any organization to apply for the CR or CRA designation. Membership programs, if offered, will be separate from certification.

How do I maintain my certification?

CR holders must complete 36 CEUs every 3 years. CRA holders must complete 20 CEUs every 2 years. Approved activity categories and the recertification process will be detailed in the Recertification Handbook prior to the first renewal cycle.
